DirecTV Dish cable requirements

I have a five-year old dual LNB dish installed by DirecTV, and will soon be reroofing my home (the disk is on the roof). I'd like some information about cable requirements for the new HD (KA/KU) dishes, and advice in general about when to upgrade the dish to HD.

o The current dual LNB dish is connected to my DVR with two RG6 coaxial cables. How many cables does the new HD dish require?

o Since the dish will soon need to be remounted and aimed, is this a good time to upgrade the dish to HD?
- Will the new HD dish work with my existing SD DVR?
- If so, is there any advantage to having the new HD dish installed now (before I upgrade to HD service)?
- If so (again), how much does DirecTV charge for just the dish installation?

I'm waiting a bit longer to invest in HD, and would like to get the timing right.

There is no advantage to upgrading your dish now if you don't intend to begin watching HD now. Save the upgrade costs 'til you're prepared to buy an HDTV.
