I have called DTV CS and asked them a couple of questions concerning the changeout of required DTV equipment when local HD programming becomes available to the Seattle market in the spring. They didn't have an answer except to say that they believed that one system (receiver only) would be provided and the rest would be at my expense. Hummm... something is not right here considering what I have spent over the past year to switch my current system to HD! Could somebody who has gone thru the upgrade process enlighten me as to what actually happens?...
(1) I currently have 3 DTV HD receivers (DTV H-10, DTV H-10 and a Samsung 360) and 1 DTV SD receiver (Hughes) installed in my system. Will DTV replace all of them on a 1 for 1 basis at no cost to me? (2) Does DTV provide a new 5 LNB antenna and install it at no cost to me? (3) How much communication and contact did DTV have with you before the change took place? Any and all comments would be appreciated as I would like to be armed with information before this event takes place. Thank you |

Currently the offer is this in most hd local markets. The upgrade to a 5lnb Dish and 1 HD H20 Swap is $99. For each other HD H20 swap is an additional $99. So with your system and swapping 3 hd receivers for the new H20, you are looking around $300. I myself as an supervisor at dtv would offer to waive $150 to $200 depanding on your payment history, amount of subscribed programing and tenure. If that is not sufficent going to crg for a better offer is another way to go.

I am not a DTV customer yet, but did speak with a csr today:
She said my locals (Sacramento Ca) should be up April 1st, so if I became a new DTV customer today, I would not get the H20 or the 5LNB dish, just their mpeg 2 stuff - she said then I could upgrade FOR FREE in April - I am thinking that I will just wait until April - why have two installs? - and I don't exactly believe it would be free! cm |
