Directv announced on September 8th,2004 that in 2005 they are sending a satelite into outerspace that will bring over 500 HD channels to Directv customers.
And by 2007 Directv is sending up 2 satelites.

I doubt directv will buy Voom. though I have heard thjat Voom is losing customers left and right because of excessive costs and constant problems with reception to it's customers.
I know HDnet is owned by a cable company and Directv and Dish Nertwork have THOSE channels on their networks.I guess they pay Cox Cable who owns HDnet and other HD channels a rental fee...which Cox charges them.
So,IS Directv buying Voom.Someone let me know and send mea Link to that proof.

I've had the two way Direcway satellite internet for about 2 1/2 years now. My signal went out, like yours, every time it rained. The folks at direcway said I should keep my signal even after my DirecTV signal went out. They sent out a tech to readjust the dish and son-of-a-gun if they weren't right. Now it has to be really, really bad outside before I lose the signal.

I'm looking forward to these new satellites in 2007, but can Directv find a way to get us TNT HD? Yet another basketball game, this time my hometown Mavericks, broadcasted in HD, and I missed it.

someone told me TNT HD was available on direct tv since dec 1st but i have not seen it. anyone else heard this or anything else about TNT HD??

How about signing up with Dish nETWORK, THEY HAVE HAD tnt IN hidef FOR ABOUT SIX WEEKS NOW.

That would be an option, if you didn't want NFL Sunday Ticket, which, for me, is much more important to have than TNT HD...

I've read that the Mavericks games are shown on DirecTV (In HD) for those living in the Dallas area. I'm sure that if you call D*, they can explain how you might be able to get these games.

Why can't D* do this special setup with other NBA teams as well??? Aside from the few NBA games on ESPNHD and some of the NBATV games that D* offers every few days, most of the other NBA games are SD. The NFL ticket is much better quality in terms of HD (100+ games in HD) and next year is probably even better. As far as ESPNHD, I emailed them in early December asking them why none of the NBA games were actually in HD. They never replied but I have noticed that they now show at least one of the games of the Friday night doubleheader in HD. We need to continue complaining until they offer more HD programming.

I am a user of Direcway internet and have been for 2 years. It's a 2-way and you do not lose your internet everytime it rains. Only if there is a severe thunderstorm with heavy overhead clouds do you lose signal. I've never lost mine for more than 10 minutes and not very many times over this two year period.

If you want your local channels you don't have to switch to Voom. I bought an amplified UHF/VHF Off air antenna at Best Buy plugged it into my Samsung reciever and told it to tune digital programing and WALA I get all my local channels and see the HD programming that is offered. It cost me 40 maybe 50 bucks and took 30 minutes. The tuner integrated the programming into the guide so it pulls right up with the DirectTV programming.
