Default Losing locals

At midnight, we are supposed to lose our local NBC and abc. Dtv blames them and vice versa. Long story short, will we be without locals until the disputes are resolved? Will the NBC or abc channel that's not local be available? I remember losing MTV for like a month a few years back.

Thanks

EDIT: it was nice of DIRECTV to let about five minutes pass after the ball dropped. Ridiculous

Default CBS out in Seattle market

No CBS this morning (Jan 1st) on DTV. ABC, NBC and FOX are up. The "breakdown" in programing from the old standards (DTV, Dish, etc, etc) into direct streaming via CBS, Roku, DTV Now and others along with the "cable cutters" has the industry in a tailspin.

And then for the views who could care less about news and live sports, there's Netflix, Amazon Prime and youtube for entertainment. My vote here for most for the buck goes to NetFlix (less than $10 a month) verses a subscription to DTV for $100 or more. Couple this with an outdoor antenna for local news and is it any surprise that the industry is in DEEP turmoil.

Meanwhile, I have them all...

DTV + HBO
NetFlix
Amazon Prime
Apple TV
Roku Stick (latest edition)

To be fair, I should say that DTV restored CBS a few hours later. I suspect the screams from the NFL fans convinced them to reboot.

If DTV is going to start negotiating for better pricing on locals and dropping them till they get their way, then it may be time to invest in a inside or outside TV antenna (depends on where you live) if your within range of your local over the air TV stations.

And if your paying extra for local stations then I would ask for a refund till they come back.

They put their own "commercials" into the feed, so they need to pay for the use of someone else's work.
It's a business, part of the costs of doing that business.

Let me Chime in. Directv is owned by ATT and currently ATT is carrying a big stick with affiliate locals stations to renew the contracts at high prices.

Our local CBS station has been off the air for 5+ weeks with our ATT U-Verse package. I assume this effects Directv too, with them.

I have had communications with the holding company in Madison, WI., that owns 4 CBS stations and 5 radio stations, a very small company.
They have told me that people that have complaints with ATT are being directed to their affiliate, DIRECTV.

Then on another note, I learned that ATT U-Verse will be obsolete in 18-24 months and will be asking the customers if they want to switch to Directv or OTT.

Since we have been w/o CBS for 5+weeks and the road that lies ahead with ATT, I will be switching to Spectrum Cable. Yes, we have had experience with the Directv in the past and have a soar taste. With snow, rain, overcast days, no thank you with any dish up here in Wisconsin with Satellites circling south of Florida.

Sorry for butting in on your forum, but thought it news worthy. Yes, I did have a chat, with an ATT Tech yesterday.
