Default Cabling Problems 775

I've been getting this message for over a week now, well sort of, this was an issue for two days last week so I cancelled the service call ($$$). But it came back over the last three days. Called D again, this time the service call is free because the problem wasn't fixed (but i never had them out), either way it's great, I dont need to pay.

Anyway for those whom hasn't yet seen 775 and looked it up, it's a problem with the power inverter or a problem at the dish, but could also be a connection problem anywhere. I did the resets and checked everything so finally had to call for a service call. I'll let you all know how it went.

Error code 775 is not a satellite alignment error code. It is specifically for when the receiver can't detect your SWM wiring.

Press MENU button

Select "Settings & Help," press SELECT

Select "Settings," press SELECT

Select "Info & Test," press SELECT

Select "Run System Test," press SELECT

It should give you a diagnostic code,

D tech is at the house now, unfortunately i'm not and getting info from the wifey.

According to her he replaced the power inverter (little gray box as she put it), did some rewiring to the dish and is now sloshing around looking for connections in my flooded crawl space (we flooded again with the storm). He's been there about two hours now.

Well, in the crawl space he found bad connections due to the flooding and that was the main cause of our problems. But he did everything else before that, new inverter, wires, splitter etc.

This was wiring I installed too. This guy went above and beyond to fix us. Very happy.

Glad to hear viewing is getting back to normal.

These installation/repair folks don't get paid much. Since he "...went above and beyond..." I hope you'll had him a few extra bills.

Let's just say I ended up paying for most of what the original service call would have been. He left happy.

Had another 775 cabling problem, but this time it was only to one box, the master bedroom.

I searched around for anything out of place and found nothing, so they sent someone out. The tech found two potential issues: One was the wall plate which was outdated (he said that probably wasn't this issue but needed to be replaced), and he also found another connection with no rubber "boots", this connection was corroded and sitting in the "J" channel on the upper roof. He replaced it with the current water resistant connector.

We've had Directv for many years and something seems to keep happening, I'm tempted to replace every single wire and connector and remove the old cable tv wires, dish network wires, dtv remnants. There are so many wires going to nowhere stuck behind the siding. But man, what a job that would be.
