Directv Install

I'm getting directv back tomorrow after 2.5 years with dish. I went with the HR 34 with two clients. Some questions I was wondering about to get ready for the install that I was hoping someone could help me out with.

1: Will this require a rewiring of the cable lines, or will it just be plug and play more or less? Currently I have the new cable that dish ran to add sets, and I think they left what was there from directv before on the existing, but not sure.

2: Can I hook in my internet access into one of the clients, or does it have to go into the HR 34?

3: How many shows could be recorded at once if all three sets are viewing live tv?

1. Minor rewiring may be needed
2. NO- has to connect to the hr34 either with a cat5 cable or CCK
3. The HR34 has 5 Tuners so 3 tuners would be used while viewing live tv- that would leave 2 tuners to record with without a conflick.

Thanks for the info! I was hoping that it would not need a total rewire. I thought that I had read somewhere that the whole home would not run on regular coax, didn't know if that was true.

Bad news on the internet connection. Will have to do some reconfiguring.

On the tuners, that should be sufficient, I was hoping for more, but that was what I was prepared for. Will still be much better than what I had which was two tuners on the DVR to run two sets.

It will run fine on RG6 Which Dish uses the same as D* Good luck with install.

Finished with the install, went great. They were able to connect the network into one of the C31 mini clients.

Did the installer Connect a BBDeca AT the C31 or a CCK ? I didn't think the c31 had a rj45 port?



It does take up to 24hrs for the VOD menu to populate.

I'm not sure that is correct but at some point should you ever have a "internet issue" I would suspect that connection first.

Connected via coax into the Network SWiM port on C31 then into DCA2SRO-01 which has ethernet connection into router.

I will keep my eye on it and see if everything works. The installer assured me that it would feed to the HR34, so I hope that is right. Haven't really tried anything yet since it hasn't had time to download everything. It might cause some kind of speed issue at the least.

No worry's That will work just fine - I did some research and that will work either for a c31 location or he could have also done (wired) the same way at the hr34 as well. Unless you had a large bookcase or such at the Hr34 location
