Maybe that is my problem. I also have my modem bridged to my router, but not sure if nat is enabled. Probably not. I will check see and get back. That makes sense. Thanks.

that's true, but video on demand on directv is free for most of their programming. This was just something that was available through directv and I was never able to get to work correctly. Yes, most of these movies are older, but that's fine. Also, reruns of series that may have been missed throughout the week. That is why I wanted to enable this option.

Suugest You go to one of your PC'S -running win - Start>RUN>(TYPE) ipconfig /all >(press)enter.

Write down what is displayed for all fields

Input those values into your Network settings of your HDDVR (manual)

NOTE: DO NOT USE the same Ipaddress of the PC (Assume you won't)

Then Retest.

It sounds like it is the port forwarding thing. I looked at my modem and it is port forwarding 1 port for each DVr. Shouldn't there be 2? One for stb services and one for audio. I redid some of those and it had got to 20% download on John carter. Farther than anything else went. Should these two ports be consecutive? Anybody know what the status numbers mean?i am assuming 5000 means good because west dc, you had that on that previous post.

Here's a link to a forum article about port forwarding a directv dvr.

http://www./showthread.php?t=160811

If you have plug and play enabled in your router it should map the ports automatically.

That's what I have been hearing. I have been looking for that option on my modem off and on the last couple of days. I can't find it. I have a 2wire 2701 hg-d.

Just found that answer as to why I can't find it. 2wire does not support upnp. No wonder why I can't find it. I have a linksys wrt610n hooked up for better coverage and n service in my house. Hopefully I can just directly plug in the receiver to it and I might be good to go.

I think the primary gateway would have to have upnp since it's the dhcp server?

Yup, just found that out too. I've got a spare modem in the house that I will hook up pretty soon. Sounds like that may solve my issues.

Here's a web site that tells you how to port forward a 2 wire 2701HG-d.
