not long ago DTV would fix stuff free. Now they do not at all! so, it is well worth it. It covers everything that can and will go wrong, tech visits, remotes, reciever replacements they used to offer free but now screw you for. example: your receiver turns into a brick. It's leased but w/o the plan they will f you for a replacement. Evidently it's another way to line us all up and bend us over. But is worth it considering.

I have and find it's worth it. plus there is little or no hassle in dealing with them over repairs or replacements I wish all warranty programs were as easy as this.

I also have it and am glad I do. Once they see you have it, they treat you in a whole different way. I feel like they actually care and will do whatever they can to help you. I highly recommend getting it.

Get it. It's saved me hundreds of Dollars over the three years I've been with D. It also gets you escalated to Case Management faster.

If you don't have the protection plan and a leased receiver goes bad you have to pay $20 for shipping of a replacement.

I have the plan because I live in a windy area and need occasional dish adjustments. I do recommend it though because sometimes they send a tech out to replace a receiver in which case it's another $50. The good part is that when a tech comes they usually have the latest model of receivers on their truck, whereas it's "pot luck" if they send you one.

I don't have the protection plan and I've saved hundreds of dollars over the years. I've never needed a dish re-aligned. If it goes out of adjustment due to living in a windy area then they aren't tightening it very well. I can live with having to pay $50 for a service call some day. I can't really believe everyone's attitudes changes for the better once they know you have the protection plan. I think that's in your mind.

Yes this is true, I thought so at 1st, until they tried to F me for a service call, that the ports on the SWM broke off and they still wanted me to pay, after getting to retention, and another 2yr commitment I was freed of the charges. I think it's more than a mere $50.00 and if an issue came up soon after what then? The plan covers everything. I agree it sucks, but: It is as if they have you by the gnarleys. And they do! Protection plans for electronics is stupid, not so for a used car, or something like we have. remotes-receivers(stb's)- dish aligment- wiring- etc.

I think you're wise. It's a bit like asking should I get comprehensive auto insurance. You could argue that it's a waste of money.....unless you hit someone or they hit you.

Repairing a car and/or other person(s) car(s) is a lot more expensive than get a dish re-aligned. Not a good comparison.

That's like comparing medical insurance to directv protection plan. You don't need it till you have a heart attack and need a triple bypass.

I will add:If you have only one receiver then don't bother with the plan. I have 6 receivers on my account, 3 hd dvr's. so it's worth it for me, with all this equipment. it's your $$.

I bought the coverage. I figure the shit storm i went through getting the damdish mounted I better. If something happens, I'm not paying someone 8 hours of work, for a 10 minute job, because the tech don't know what he's doing.
