Default Mediacom vs Dish and Direct

How can cable companies like Mediacom survive? I live in a small town and Mediacom is getting their butts kicked by Dish and Direct. I can't believe how many houses have gone to satellite. I know people in bigger cities can't always find a place to mount a dish. Mediacom gives terrible service in my town. They would not even run cable to a new housing addition. They wanted the city to do. Sorry I rambled. Getting back to my question, how do they survive?

Thumbs down Mediacom

Hey, that's Mediacom for you. Sure they suck. Everyone who has ever had Medicom knows that. And, being primarily cable overbuilders, they are not too concerned about opening new areas of service. Apparently just being mediocre is what they strive for. Hmmmm. Mediocre Mediacom. Has a nice ring to it. .
The way that they survive is that a lot of people do not yet know the difference between Medicom and the satellite companies, and some are skeptical about having a dish installed. Add to that the fact that they heavily advertise in apartment complexes, college dorms, etc., where satellite useage is difficult or impossible, and you see how they survive. .

Never had Mediacom, Charter is the man here. On that note I had Charter for 15 yrs. Last Jan I switched to Dish and couldn't be happier. My bill went from $150 a mo to $91. And I have way more HD.
