Default Image Too Large For Screen

I've already searched this form for an answer, but can't seem to find one that works for me.

I have DirecTV, but I had this problem with cable, too. During HD Sporting Events like NFL Football or the MLB Playoffs, I cannot read the score because it is off the screen. My tvs do not have a "zoom" option that I can find. I've tried every combination of settings on my tvs and the DirecTV receiver. I am very frustrated as it makes it not as enjoyable to watch games since I can't read the score, time remaining, what inning it is, etc.

My setups:

A Sharp 25N-M100 with a HD-DVR from DirecTV
A Westinghouse LTV-37w HD with a HD Receiver.

Both TVs have this problem. The Sharp I bought new in 2001, and the Westinghouse was bought new in 2007 or early 2008.

Neither TV has a "zoom" option that I can turn off. I've tried so many combinations of settings it's driving me nuts.

I'm hoping someone can help. Thank you very much for your time.

Press the "Format" button on your DirecTV Remote to cycle the various picture format modes.

Default Image To Large For Screen

Just noticed this myself, formatting screen size does not cure the problem. 4:3 will still cut off the upper left image with scores.

Default Found my problem

Watch World Series tonight. Played with remote and found my problem with not seeing total score on upper left of screen.
I am watching thru a Channel Master DVR, CM-7000PAL. I noticed a button with "zoom" control. I reduce the zoom and "voila", all is good

The other night I watched Game 6 of the World Series. Somehow the problem had corrected itself. Then last night I was at work and saw Game 7 on one of the TVs and the TV at work had the zoom problem. Maybe it's FOX that has the problem, not me? I hadn't done anything different for the problem to have left my TV during Game 6. I'm confused. I miss the '80s when everything made sense.
