Default DirecTV Moving secert!

They are going to charge me 199.99 just to move my service, without offering me any sort of promotional price, new hardware, or anything at all. When I mentioned I am going to leave them and pay 140 -- which, in march when I move, I will pay the ETF and it be cheaper -- the guy didn't even care. He didn't respond, he didn't say let me see what I can do. It's like he didn't care about me being a customer and believed leaving Directv is a better choice.

(Yes, I did move last August, and I am moving again. I know I was given one free move but the fact the guy didn't show any type of empathy and didn't even try to keep me as a customer further proves they don't care about their customers)

In march, I guess I will be an ATT customer.

Dish has a program called Dish Mover. Whenever you want to move just call and they do it for free. For years I lived in Texas six months and Colorado mountain cabin for six months. Had dishes at both places. I would just take my receiver and remotes with me. Hook it all up and call and said I moved and need to change address and change local channels. Never had a problem. Think DISH even has a "snowbird" program.

Why does DirecTV not have this?

Because I think you installed them yourselves and it was just a billing switch...or, you said it three times while clicking your heels together...or Dish is just far superior and perfect in every way

There's no place like home
There's no place like home
There's no tv like DISH...whoops. Didn't work

direct does have this, i believe its after 6 months they move you for $50, after a year i think its free, but ya that may be a one time deal

i think what golf nut is saying is that he called and moved, had it installed at the cabin, then after that just moved equipment back and forth, which he stated that new install at the cabin was free. thats how i read it anyhow

Default Correct

Correct. Never paid anything. Called to say I was moving from Texas and needed it installed in Colorado. Then I had dishes at both homes -- Texas and Colorado.

After that all I had to do was take the receiver and remotes, hook them up, and call in to say I just moved. Never had to have any "installer" come back, etc. Never paid a cent for the moves back and forth.

People have and do this with direct too!The original poster want's another set-up and install at another address in less than 1 year. You have to qualify for AT&T u-verse tv service, every one isn't eligible for it.
