Default DIRECTV To Raise Prices By 4%

This is getting old. Prices keep going up and they continue to ignore their customers by not adding anymore HD channels. WTF???

http://www.tvpredictions.com/dprices122710.htm

DIRECTV says it will raise the price of most programming packages by four percent starting in February 2011.

I am pretty irritated with it myself. Been around for 9 years. Called to try and get the whole house DVR thing. They wanted $250, and wouldn't budge on the price. However, they cut all kinds of deals for new customers. Maybe I should leave then come back? This is the 3rd price increase in 2 years.

If they raise prices they should allow us out w/out the early withdraw fee. Seems breaking contracts only goes 1 way.

Nothing new here, everything is going up: Gas, utilities, food, mortgage interest rates are on the rise after 2 years of record lows, etc. So why not Directv? It is to be expected and none of these other entities ask us for our inputs either.

I got whole home DVR for $100 for an additional HD DVR and a $49 MRV installation fee, including the Internet hook up. I've only been with them for two years?

The prices go up every February. That is the only time of year that the prices go up. Everything is going up in price and if the price increase is too much for you then when your contract is over go somewhere else. If you expect prices to stay the same year after year then I want some of the drugs you are taking. This price increase is not as much as others. Comcast is going up 10% on all their services come January 1.

So what's to help with this thread? People come here to cry about the yearly price hike from DirecTV, which is quite unnecessary. Every subscriber received the notice of the increase. No one here will be able to prevent their increase from happening or adding content to their plan so what's the point of the post? If you don't want the increase, move on to another provider before the increase or whenever your contract is up. As mentioned, almost every service or product provider will increase their price regularly. It's not a new phenomenon by DirecTV only.
This forum use to be used by those with technical questions/problems but has become a forum for stump speeches/complaints on topics that can't be dealt with by the participating members.
Thanks for reading my previous posts. Hopefully you got something positive from them, even though I know you won't admit to it.
Cheers.....

Exactly my point. Who gives a rats ass about PPV & sports networks which are blacked out anyway? Again, don't mind paying a little more if they're adding additional HD channels. But they're not. Still plenty of HD channels out there that we're not getting. WHY???

Amen to that!

I can remember when this forum was about hardware and software issues. People would pitch in and help a poster get his equipment up and running. Now it seems to be nothing more than people complaining about their own actions. The biggest complaint seems to go like this...

I have a contract with DirecTV and I no longer want to abide by the covenants of the contract. DirecTV is enforcing the contract I agreed to including an "early out" penalty. Wah, wah, wah. That's not fair.

Can we please get back to high def hardware issues and topics?
