Default Adding DirectTV service to second residence

Hello,
I'm brand new to this forum so I'll apologize ahead of time if I mess up this post or put it in the wrong category.

I've had a DT account for years in PA. I just purchased a second home in Fla and want to sent up the same service at this FLa. home that I currently have in PA. I'm not moving only adding. Is this doable with Direct TV? If so, what is the simpleist way to accomplish this?

Thank you in advance,
Tony

Call them and explain you situation. They should be able to work a deal with you. If it is a part time residence, they do offer to freeze you service for the weeks/months you are not there, which will save you money.

I live in Chicago and have a summer home in Wisconsin. So what I did was I had service in Wisconsin for years, then I just bought a dish offline self installed it. Then I bought an HD receiver (HR23) from ABT, you can also get them online, and activated it with Wisconsin account and am paying no more than the $5 receiver fee and get the same great channels. The only downside is that you probably wont get Florida's Local channels but that can be fixed by getting and OTA antenna and directv AM 21.

If you can, just get a dish installed at your second residence and bring your receivers with you. Find a local guy around the way and that should be it. I actually flagged down a satelite guy in a parking lot and asked him do it on the side. He charged me $100 instead of what DTV was ripping me off for. Just bought the satelite online. If you can't find someone to install it then tell direct tv you have a summer home that you would like to install DTV. Unfortunately they will charge you a bit for the install($199-$250 +$49.99 service call +tax) I believe. Not sure about the price. This was years ago.

Here's the catch, you will not get the locals in the new residence unless you call and change your address. If you dont' mind that then you are good. I have a summer home and I just bring my receivers down with me and for locals I just use an offair antennae.

I've heard people mention you need another account to do that but that is BS. Its not stealing, you are already paying for DTV! what difference does it make where in the country you are. They already have your money and business. Dont let DTV convince you to get another account. Some people are just gullable. Tell them you are only at your other residence 1 month out of the year and thats that. Hope that helps man.
