Question Sound/Voice doesn't match Video using HDMI from DTV HD DVR

I've been searching this forum and others all morning and thought for sure this would be an easy fix. However, I've found little to help and will greatly appreciate anyones input on correcting this.

Problem: New LG 47inch LCD TV is connected to my DirecTV HD DVR with an HDMI cable. Whe watching the DVR, almost anything but especially the news the voices are way off from the video.
However, if I plug the DVR Optical into my Yamaha Reciever and use that for audio it looks right on track. (yes, I know this may be "the answer" I am asking any of you for). I just don't think I should have to use my receiver all the time for audio. If that's ends up being the fact, it won't be too big a deal.

Interesting is - using the HDMI cable from my LG Blu-Ray to my LG TV and the voice/audio is right on track.

I have tried replacing the HDMI cable from the DVR to the TV, didn't make a difference.

Any suggestions or thoughts are greatly appreciated. This afternoon I will go out and buy another Optical out fiber cable so I can have both Blu Ray and DVR going through my receiver.

Thanks,
Dan

Are you finding this to be the same with all channels? I also have an LG 47 and have had sync issues, but i only use my surround. I've come to the conclusion that some stations are to blame.

I can't be sure, it could be my surround system, but there is a sync option somewhere, you might want to see if it's the tv that has one.

It is the TV that is your culprite. I have the LG 47" LED/LCD (47LH90) and it has the same problems. There is a legnthy thread on AVS Forums regarding this problem on that set. I use my receiver for sound, so not an issue for me, but it would def be a problem if I didn't use it.

Your receiver may have a sync option, my Onkyo does but it's buried in the menus. If you need more cables try monoprice, they sell good cables at a very low price.

Default Sound/Voice

Hi: I don't have tht type of TV (got a Toshiba) but I do have a Yamaha A/V Receiver tht has the lip sync option. I hooked the DVR up to receiver with the HDMI & hooked the Blu Ray up to receiver with HDMI as well and came out of Receiver to TV with HDMI. I was not able to get any sound from TV - only from A/V receiver. Hooked up optical cord as well from DVR to receiver and then tryed from DVR to TV and still could not get TV audio. I then hooked up DVR to TV using component cables and now have Audio from TV when set on that input. The picture quality using component cables vs HDMI is not a hell of a lot of difference. You might try hooking the component cables DVR to TV as well as HDMI to receiver and see if that won't work for you as well. Good Luck...

Your Blu-Ray is in sync by using the HDMI wire.
I'll say that you contact LG customer service at 1-800-243-0000 and they will troubleshoot with you and if they determine is a problem with the TV, they will send a tech to your house to install a firmware upgdate that that will be the end of the problem.
It worked for me...

If it's an HD cable box, try to connect the cable service line from the wall directly to the TV. If your audio is in sync, you need to contact your cable service provider to find out if the Cable Box has an audio sync option.

If you bypass the cable box and it works fine, that eliminates the TV as the source of the problem.
