Default VOD download speed

It takes along time to download VOD. When I hooked it up I knew it would be slow because because I do not have fast internet. I do not have any other choices at this time. I know I am grasping at straws, but is there anyway to make the download faster, other than faster internet? Thank for any help.

You must have DSL. I do and I found out that the closer to your telephone box your computer is, it will increase your download and upload speed slightly. I have a direct connection from my modem to the D*TV receiver. I also had the telephone tech place a filter in the telephone box to cover all my wall rj jacks and he installed a direct unfiltered line to a new jack. I did notice a difference in download time. Not much but some. Good luck.

That's because you don't have the Premium channels, i.e. Showtime, HD package...etc.

At DIRECTV the pay per view movies are from the satellite and the VOD programming is off the internet, including VOD movies.

VOD ( video on demand ), they are done over the internet. your satellite system is a RECEIVE only system. it uses your interent connection to request and then DOWNLOAD the requested program.

ya see dish downloads VOD via satellite, and when you want to watch it its ready to go, no internet

so thats what i was wondering, seems like a waste unless you have ample internet connection, and will probrably slow the country down once again.....they make it faster, then come up with shit to slow it back down once again.....

only bad part about how dish does it, is that its using some of my space on the hard drive......
