Default TV Picture Shifted to left

My son-in-law has an older 58" Sony Rear Projection TV that is fed by a Directv HR-20-100. The picture is great EXCEPT that it seems to be a little to the left as some of the material on the left hand side of the screen is cut off... I have checked all the receiver settings and nothing is in the zoom mode.. Is there anyway to shift the picture or does anyone have an idea what might be causing this. Other Directv receivers have the capability to shift the picture but not the HR20-100.

The TV probably needs the picture/convergence adjusting. In the service menu there are adjustments to picture centering, overscan and so on, but these are only accessible to someone who has the special service codes. There's a very useful article in the high-def forums, or do a google search on sony service codes.

probably an over-driven hyperdrive in the vortex alignment. adjust by hitting tv on left side. or sit a little to the right of tv to see what you missed

Some TV sets dont react well when the box is set to 720P. Set it just to 1080i and that may solve your problem
