Default Toshiba cinema series hd compatible tv

We own a 36" Toshiba Cinema Series HD Television Model #36HFX71. What do we need to get it ready for the digital change over? Just a converter or more????

Hi and welcome to HDF.

What source are you using to get your current programming?

Cable
Satellite
Over the Air (antenna)
Telco (FIOS or Uverse)

Then you are all set.

Your HDTV has an ATSC tuner (digital) no need for a converter box. Only need those for NTSC TV's in the house.

Question Interesting

I pulled up the owner's manual for this set, and it showed it as only having an NTSC tuner. According to it, the poster WOULD indeed need a converter box. Am I mistaken ? Where did you see that the TV has an ATSC tuner ?

The 36HFX71 is a 2001 model that has an NTSC tuner only. Since the OP uses an antenna, he definitely needs a box by Feb 17.

If he gets a "coupon eligible cinverter box" he will be able to watch the digital channels, including the HD ones, in Standard Definition.

If he wants to watch the HD channels in HD he will need a full featured digital box such as the Samsung DTB-H260F.
