Exclamation HELP!!! My Vizio P42 just died!

My Vizio P42 HDTV just made this loud "pop", and the screen went completely black. I have had it for a year and a half. I got it as a refurb from Tiger Direct. Is it a blown tube? Does the average-joe TV repairman know how to fix it? I am freaking out and I could really use the help. Also, no warranty on this puppy...

I bought an LG to replace it. Out of warranty, so no calls to Vizio (obvious answer, by the way). I looked at other forum boards, and it appears to be a known problem with Vizio for the main board to go bad on their TVs. I will keep it and try to get it fixed and my son can have it in his room.

I am hoping you have better luck with the LG. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I guess I just got lucky. I will have had my LG plasma for 2 yrs this May and not had a single problem. I have heard of all the problems with LGs and don't doubt they happen. I just haven't experienced any.

I sure hope you have better luck with your LG then I did. I have had my 42in LG Plasma for 28 months and New Year's Eve there was a loud "PoP" and I had sound with no picture. Good Luck!
