Default Zenith SE2719P 27" console, no power

I just aquired this older 27" tv for my classic game room. No power, pulled back off checked fuse. Found in correct fuse, 3 amp in a 4 amp socket, some caps replaced, whoever tried to repair didnt know what they were doing. Don't see any damage, just missing a transistor and 2 other things need replacing as well as the incorrect fuse. Does anyone have the schematics for this set or know the value of the parts, transistor etc. This set was manufactured in Feb. 1989

The Zenith name was purchased by Lucky Goldstar Electronics (LG), a Korean company. I would contact them for service manuals etc.

I can mail this original printed by Zenith (not printed from a PDF, Microfiche or photocopy) manual for $8.95 and I pay domestic First Class/Media Mail postage. If you'd like it quicker I can mail it Priority Flat-Rate Envelope for an additional $3.50.
This is more than just a schematic it's a 24"x36" (I think) schematic folded with the following pages on the reverse: Board voltage location layout, adjustment, purity and convergence setup, waveforms, parts list and other information.
I'm analogalley on eBay if you'd like to check my feedback rating there for references.
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...me=STRK:ME:UFS
I can submit an invoice through PayPal if you like.
You can pay by PayPal to analogalley@sunflower.com or send Money Order or Check to:
John Hamm
882 East 1650 Road
Baldwin City, KS 66006
I can't tell from your eMail address your physical location. If you are not in the US please change payment terms to:
PayPal to analogalley@sunflower.com or send International Money Order or Cash well hidden in an envelope to:
John Hamm
882 East 1650 Road
Baldwin City, Kansas
66006 USA
All prices are in US$. Plus there may be additional International Postage charges.

I hope this helps and thank you for asking,
John

guess it depends on how much its worth it to you to get this 19yr
old tv running again
Maybe check some of your local TV repair shops, especially the ones that have been around for a while. Maybe they will take mercy on you and give you a copy

Well, i guess anything under 10 or 15 is ok. Imean as long as its not like 100 or something. Most people would think your crazy for repairing one that ol. This is a very clean unit. Probably just go ahead and do it. I do have one repairman that i should ask.

Maybe if i take a pic of the power supply board, someone might know the parts i need. I know somebody replaced a couple of caps, theres two bad diodes and a missing transistor. I just need the value of these items. With the transistor missing, there's no way for me to know what it was.

I couldn't locate my model but maybe i missed something. Surely as big as the internet is, you'd think there would be a free copy somewhere.

Nobody here seems to know anything about tv repair. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Maybe i should post in the Fixya forums

Well, this isn't a "fixit" forum--although we may be able to help you figure out what to look for.

I'd suspect there's a lot more wrong than you think. I doubt whoever pulled the parts off the board pulled them out for no reason. When power supplies die on analog TV's, it's usually because some components like capacitors, inductors or resistors aged and their characteristics changed, or because transistors and transformers that have been switching high-voltage at high-frequencies for a long time finally are stressed to the point of failure. In either case, it usually leads to an avalanche of damage and you end up needing to replace the whole power supply module because it's cheaper than replacing each individual component.

Well, either way, it won't be a problem. Especially since i have a few years tv experience and i also have a tech that lives downstairs. If i have to replace the whole board, that's fine too since the whole thing slides right out. Its all one piece. Its just getting the schematics for this thing that's hard. Figured there would be a free download online somewhere.

Unless you are fascinated by diagnosing failures and get satisfaction out of fixing something yourself on the component level (regardless of how much effort it takes), if you can get a replacement power supply board, just do that, especially if they are so easy to swap.
