The owners manual should give you all of that information.

OK then. The components are HD and capable of displaying 1280x1080 which is 1080i.

Actually, only the second VGA in supports HD. I own the set as well and have recently been researching an inexpensive converter to hook my Comcast STB's component outs to the VGA (2) on the set. Specs can be found at RadioShack's website. The picture quality on the set is outstanding as-is, so I can't see throwing it out, but I saw this very set some years back at a RadioShack hooked to an RCA DT-100 DTV Reciever (VGA to VGA) and the HD loop on HBO was awesoon. Maybe someone can help us out.

That's very strange but I stand corrected.

That TV features RCA'a Syncroscan HD Component-video input. According to RCA's product information, this input "Automatically adjusts scan rate of component video inputs (Y-Pr-Pb). Allows for connection of regular or progressive-scan DVD players or component-output HDTV set-top boxes".

So the component-video input is rated for HD. (So is the SVGA2 input.)

As I thought. But isn't that information in the users manual?

It should be. But the OP couldn't find it or didn't understand it, if it is.

Actually I understood it very well, in my users guide it does not state that the component are HD rated. After searching around on the internet found a different users guide that is different that mine for both the 32" and the 36" tv that states that, but the users guide that came with my set only says svga 2 is hd rated. The link to the users guide above is most likely a newer version that did not ship with my set.

Sorry folks. My bad. I have an MM36100. The specs that BrianO posted were for a MM36110. Pretty sure the only HD input is the 2nd VGA on my set. With that said, anyone have a guess as to whether the V-Digi converter will give me true HD from my Comcast STB component out to the VGA in on the set?

I have that tv and either vga input can take HD input. It has to be RGB though, so you have to transcode component. And source has to be 1080i; not 720p

One of the VGAs has presets for computer text on teh DB15 inputs (800x600 max which does a good job for a tv card signal full screen) and the other has presets for video input but you can change them around in the menus.

The component input has to be 480i - the later model set above could take progressive input (480p - but I don't know if it could take 1080i on the component)

Hey guys...

Thanks for the discussion! My wife and I were recently given an MM36110, and I am still a bit confused as to the best way to receive the best quality picture.

The general consensus seems to be that only the 2nd VGA input is truly HD. So, would an antenna to a digital receiver to this input be the best solution for "free" HDTV?

And as for a DVD player, is buying a converter for the first VGA input the best route, or would the RGB inputs work well enough?

Thanks in advance for the help!
