I bought this hdtv two and a half years ago and the picture has started to randomly turn green(ish) with hardly any red. I can somtimes turn it off, wait about 10 seconds and turn it back on and the picture returns to normal. Sometimes not.
It did this for roughly a week about a year ago but I had a roof leak at the time and figured some moisture may have enter the tv so I pointed a fan at it for a few days and the problem stopped and has been fine until recently. I have moved recently but the problem returned before the move. I didnt see any posts that were Sanyo-specific to this problem and I was curious about why this happens. As I said, this is a random thing (at least to me) and I hesitate to spend any $$$ to have it fixed until I'm sure what I'm looking at. It does seem to play fine whenever I plan to take it to the repair shop( the warranty has expired.) TIA petelynch |

I had the same problem with the thirty inch model. There seemed to be a loose connection in the tv. If I shook the tv very slightly it corrected the problem. Vibration seemed to cause it. I hope this helps you.

I talked to someone at Sanyo support today and they said they were going to refer me to a local service tech because of the "green screen". It seems there is a known issue with this model line having green screens and they will fix it regardless of warranty status.
We'll see. ![]() Petelynch. |

Update:
I was told by SanyoTV support to deliver my tv to a local repair shop and Sanyo would send repair authorization to them. The repair shop has had my tv for 10 days now. I await their call.

I, too, am having the mysterious green screen. I would like to know as well, if a solution is or was found. I also am trying to set up surround sound on the television but am a extreme novicehead. Any suggestions or help would be fantastic. I lost the Sanyo HT32744 Manual that came with the television.......

This may be a solution. I've had my HT32744 for almost 3 years now. I bought it at WalMart. The picture started an intermittent green screen about 3-4 months ago. I had the TV hooked up only to an antenna in the attic of a 2-story house. I used 300 ohm wire to hook it up (I know... how dumb is that?)
Anyway I upgraded to 75 ohm wire, and in the process, I noted that I did not have a splitter for the input signal. This TV has a 75 ohm "analog" input, and a separate 75 ohm input for the high def (digital) signal. I had just run the same wire to both inputs (after putting in a matching transformer). Needless to say, I put in a splitter this time (a $3-5 item). Wow! no green screen since! It's been about a month. I think the splitter made most of the difference, but the 75 ohm cable couldn't hurt (not as sensitive to metal pipes near the wire). The owners manual shows where to put the splitter. I hope this helps. I know I was looking for any clue, so I decided to post my experience. I have also attached the instructions for signal connection, in case you can't find your manual. If you have High definition cable or satellite set top box, the instructions recommend you hook this up to the HDMI input, and not to the "digital antenna in" port. Non hi-def cable or satellite gets hooked up to the 75 ohm analog input. Last edited by sargent; 12-05-2007 at 10:13 PM. Reason: timeline |

I said this in another forum, and I'll say it again. Don't take it personally, but Sanyo is crap! There's a reason their stuff is so much cheaper than other brand names. They use cheap circuit boards and wiring, as your green screen problems confirm.

I being a service tech and owning this set personally can tell you I have had the green screen and I rectified the problem it is the socket that the video module plugs into..Bad connection that caused the green screen actually there was no (RED) signal to the crt video board all that was needed was to clean the video socket and reseat the module I cleaned the pins roughed them up with a emory board reseated the board and no more problems I hope this helps
It is a great TV |

To clarify the repair the video board sets upright verticile that plugs onto the (main board) horizontal with locking tabs just lift up off clean pins with emery board spray socket with abrasive cleaner called (blue stuff )
I also checked for bad solder connections on the crt board and resoldered some connections on main board where the pins go in to the upright video board I hope this clarification is more complete I am an engineer electronics tech for 27 years servicing good luck people |

I'm back. I posted on 12-05-2007 with my experience of what I thought was a possible cure for the green screen. Well.... I'm sorry to report that my intermittent green screen has returned.

I've had mine for two years now and have yet to see this problem - - - -hopefully I won't. How common is this with this TV? It doesn't seem like a lot of people are experiencing this.
Keeping my fingers crossed. |
