What is HD?

Hey everyone.
I realize that the TV I'm posting about is very old, Manufactured in 1998, its over 11 years old. My girlfriend and I just moved into a new condo that we purchased, and the previous owner has a custom built tv cabinet in the home. It was built specifically around this Sony KV-35kbr48.... we could put an LCD into it but its a 2 foot deep cabinet that would not be necessary to put a new TV in right now. The question is, is it HD Ready? and if so, exactly what does that mean? Is it capable of 1080i? 720p? what exactly does HD READY mean? There is no HDMI input obviously, but there is the component video, (red green blue) Ultimately I'd really like to make use of HD capability for my XBOX, we only have one HD cable receiver in the house and its not connected to this TV so i'm not really concerned with that. I guess ultimately I want to know what is the best way to get the greatest resolution out of this TV when playing XBOX... I think its an HD Ready TV, but again I have no idea what that means, HD ready doesn't mean HD built in? confused. any help would be greatly appreciated. |
