I don't think the WD player will be a very good choice for internet video streaming. There is no browser in the device, so finding the videos to play is not possible. I think you are probably talking about some sort of a PC for what you need to do, but keep looking because you never know what may come on the market next.

I'm in the same boat as you. My wife would like to ditch the cable also. I started out with the WDTV and like it, but it’s very limited and would not be a good choice for replacing cable.
