Talking Buzzing Sound and Onboard Audio

Okay guys. I just watched Friday Night Lights on my Toshiba 51H83 from my computer. I did it via a dongle from my 9600 Nvidia to component in the back of the 51H83. The only problem is that when I hooked up the sound from the onboard sound on the motherboard to the Toshiba I get a buzzing noise coming from the TV. What gives and why? Is there any way to resolve this? I used the Y cable/splitter from the sound card(green connection) and used adapters to hook the cables to the back of the television(red and white). I'm getting sound and it is great, but that buzzing noise does not stop. Do I need a separate sound card to get rid of the buzzing sound or what? I mean everything is working fine. I do have a phillips sound card that has spdif out/in cords to go along with it. Do I need to install the soundcard to get rid of that annoying buzzing sound coming from the television? Is the onboard sound that bad coming from the motherboard? Can some of you experts help resolve this issue? Thanks guys.

How do you know it's coming from the TV or PC? Check your PC HDD? When they go bad they start to make noise. If the sound card is making a noise then one of the transiters it going is gone? To find out what is making the noise remove the sound card. If you still hear the noise see if the PSU Fan is making the noise.

Thanks tipstir. Brand new computer I built about a month go and will try to post pictures of my so-called HTPC. I don't know why it took so long for somebody in this forum to acknowledge/respond to this email. There are so many people with great knowledge here. However, after so many people viewed it, nobody seemed to want to help. It's okay though. Here is the string from someone else in another forum that helped me. I'm beginning to think maybe highdefforum is the wrong forum I'm in. Anyway, here is the string below. Thank you ever so much for responding to this problem though. This is how I resolved it from a knowledgeable guy.

"you might need a seperate soundcard (especially if you have one that supports optical, or something external). Many computers have bad grounding issues that puts a buzz in the audio. I see it alot with Dells. Especially laptops. Probably the same thing here."

My response to the above quoted response from RazorFromHRSnet.

"That was so nice of you RazorFromHRSnet. I didn't realize or even think about grounding issues. The motherboard that I have is an Asus M378-EM HDMI and I'm going to install a Philips Accoustics Edge 5.1 sound card in it. It came with a S/PDIF terminal and line out cords that come with it. I will see if this works tonight. If I were to get rid of that dreadful sound, then my apartment Home Theatre PC would be perfect. Thank you ever so much for your quick response and thank you all for a warm welcome to your forum. "

Last response a couple of minutes ago to my own response above.

"You were right on the money about the buzzing RazorFromHRSnet. It was a grounding issue. So, I did some research on the internet and I bought a ground loop isolator from Radioshack for $16.99. Took it home yesterday evening and wallah....No sound(buzzing) is coming from the Television. This grounding issue is ultimately coming from the outlets and wiring in the apartment complex. The way you guys can resolve this is by installing the isolator and the noise just completely goes away. Here is the link for a picture and description.

This has been a nagging issue for many people for a long. A cheap way to get crstal clear sound. I love it. "

Are you sure the buzzing noise isn't someone in the next room using a vibrator ?

no need to get your panties in a twist. You posted this on the 3rd and a reply was done on the 5th. You think people here get paid to respond to problems? There was an election going on in America, perhaps people are distracted. I know when I see someone's problem that I have something to add or have a solution for, I reply. I'm sure everyone here is like that.

Don't worry Dexter. I've been into the election since Mr. Obama did the coming out speech in 2004. Of course, I'm African-American. Beside the point though. I voted as well and celebrated. Point well taken. I know people don't get paid for advice and people in here have careers and occupations. I didn't expect people to respond because we all have lives. Thank you.
