Default My Samsung LCD is only half bright

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum here.

I have a 26" Samsung LCD HDTV (720p, 1080i) that I use with my PC. Yesterday during a party someone hooked it up to our PC downstairs, which is hooked up normally to a 1080p Philips 42" running at 1920x1080. Unfortunately, they just took my HDMI cable from the Philips TV and hooked it directly to my Samsung.

I noticed today when I brought the TV up to my room that the right half of my screen is brighter than the left. It's almost like a gradient effect where the screen gets brighter as it goes from left to right.

Is this something that can be repaired easily or am I going to have to send the TV back?

I apologize in advance if this issue has been discussed before on this forum, but my search had no luck here with the topic. Hopefully someone can at least point me in the right direction.

Thanks again for any input you guys can give me.

Dang, that sounds like a backlight issue. You may need it to be serviced.

hmm...back light issue?

I wonder if it was caused by having my friend carry the TV upstairs and downstairs. I didn't know if these LCD TV's are sensitive to external movement.

It's too bad because I really like this TV and it has no dead pixels.

Maybe there is something loose in it. You might try smacking it... No, wait! Smack your friend instead.
