Default nero trying to format dvd+r

any one ever hear of Nero trying to format a DVD+r im trying to burn a data DVD and every time i put a DVD+r in the drive Nero locks up and try's to format the DVD+r and the drive holds the disk hostage till i reboot it with burn DVD+rw's and CD-R's this are memorex DVD+r BTW and it will play all burned DVD and all and it will burn on Philips DVD+r

and for some reason Nero started to put create disc label in between the add data to your disk and the final burn settings menu and i cant get it to go away

Give Imgburn a shot. Rather straight forward and lightweight. One of the best freebies on the web IMO.

I use Nero all the time to burn DVDs, both data and video and have never had that problem with them using +or- R. You're sure they aren't RW discs? I'm using Nero 9 now. What version are you having a problem with and is it retail or essentials OEM? Does it do this with more than one brand of disc?

Memorex media is the absolute worst. The problem may be in fact with it and not with your software. Memorex has a very high failure rate and in addition, life after burning is short as well. When I recommend media, instead of saying what brand to buy I just say don't buy Memorex or Imation.

For burning software, CD Burner XP works great, is free and will burn all kinds of CD's and DVD's. You might want to give it a try...

I just checked mine and I've got both Kodak +R, and Memorex +R lightscribe and they both work fine. I mainly use -R anyway because I record TV shows and movies for my grandkids and they have old players that have a problem with the +R discs.

I haven't used Essentials for a long time, but don't remember any burning problems with it. If you like Nero (and I mainly use Vision), go to Fry's electronics and watch their weekly specials. With rebates you can actually get their retail versions free if you have some kind of competitive product available.

Sounds like you just solved your own problem. I've had real good luck with Samsung drives. Not too fond of Lite-on. Anyway, nice cheap solution.

that docent explain why nero is suddenly showing the label maker part for light scribe in the middle of it when im trying to burn a dvd and not a label tho plus i don't have any light scribe disks right now

edit never mind i figured the light scribe label part out there's a box that was checked to make it print a label every time

but why would the Memorex dvd+r work in one drive but not the other ? it try's to format it in one drive but not the other

Just one of those things with incompatibility or your drive is defective. Have you tried running a firmware update on the drive? Other than that, just replace it and see if that solves the problem.
