Default Dell 20" HD Computer Moniter to Sat. Box

I have a Dell 20" HD flat screen 1680 x 1050 with VGA and DVI cable connections and built in speakers.

My question is can I connect a Directv HD box directly to this monitor using some type of DVI adapter? Maybe an HDMI to DVI adapter? To get a picture from my D*tv HD receiver?

It sounds to me like a stupid question. But I won't know if I don't ask. I'm thinking it needs a tuner, but doesn't the HD sat box serve as a tuner?

Thanks ahead for any comments.

You can do that. The TV doesn't need the tuner. Red flag though, DVI does not do audio. So if the Dell has DVI only (no HDMI) you are going to have no audio. IF the Dell has HDMI and assuming the Dell can do HDMI audio, you should have no trouble. In my most recent move, I used my Viewsonic 24" monitor from my PC to set-up my Dish before the big screen was unpacked.

Mob...did you get sound from your Viewsonic? My monitor has 2 built-in speakers and it has a single audio connect next to the DVI connection for external speakers.
