Default Laptop to TV via HDMI - No Sound

Hi Guys

So for the past 5 months I've been using my tv as a HDMI output from my laptop with absoloutely no problems.

Today I go to watch some videos and there is no sound at all. This is really strange.

Heres what I've done so far:
1. Reinstalled all audio drivers
2. Checked to make sure my tv is the default output in sound
3. tried the cable with my xbox 360 and another laptop and the sound works fine.

Considering doing a wipe and fresh install but
I'm worried this could be an internal problem...

I'm running an Acer laptop with Windows Vista Home and Realtek HDMI

Any ideas? I'm stumped

Does your laptop have built in speakers? Do they work just fine?

Does your laptop have a green audio port for a jack? Do you have PC speakers you can test it with?

If both or one of those work and you have the lastest audio driver, check to make sure your driver is configured properly to go through the HDMI port.

After that, then do a fresh install.

Default Sound problem with vista

Hello everyone!

Here is a link to a video tutorial for VISTA USERS on how to activate the stereo mixer, as well as adjust the volume of the microphones and stereo mixer. noaudiooutput com

This should help with problems Vista users are having with synchronization of music and voice, or other sound problems.

This used to happen to me most of the time, but not anymore. You need to go into the sound options in control panel and make sure your HDMI device is set to Default. This worked for me.

Ok so now i've tried the following things and still no sound

1. Reinstalling the sound drviers
2. making sure HDMI is set to default sound output
3. total system reboot with Vista and Windows 7
4. tried a different cable
5. laptop speakers work perfectly

I'm thinking that this could definately be a hardware issue now.

Thanks for your posts

It might sound stupid, but did you try turning up the volume or it may be on mute....no offense...
