Could not do the scooter. I'm sure the gas mileage is great and you save alot of money. Sorry, I would feel safer on a riding mower than a scooter.

According to that article, Ford more or less plans on discontinuing V8's for future Mustangs with the exception of what will likely be low volume specialty versions, possibly through their SVT division. For those of us who own v8 powered performance vehicles right now, we probably have what may be the last of our kind.
That's depressing. What are they trying to do, make it more an economical family car? Yeah, an 8 cylinder will eat up more gas, but the Mustang is supposed to be a muscle car. It not getting the greatest gas mileage is accepted. As that article stated, the V6s are good for "motivating low end and rental mustangs."

Its saying the EcoBoost V6 is still capable of 415hp, possibly better. That will smoke a stock 07 V8.

Interesting read, thanks for pointing it out.

Muscle car purists will likely not accept this new engine simply for traditional reasons. Afterall, you want to hear a nice throaty v8 soundtrack when you floor it. You want to hear it burble at idle. However, performance is everything and I think people will start to accept it if it can deliver greater performance with better fuel economy. Ford knows that MGT buyers are not buying it for fuel economy. However, they still have that pesky thing called the CAFE to worry about, which dictates that they much increase fuel economy by 40% in the next 11-12 years. This isn't a problem with very low production specialty vehicles, but is a big problem with vehicles that are sold in volume.

I dunno, change out the headers and do a full Bassani dual exhaust setup with 2 high flow cats and you can still make a V6 rumble.

Maybe, but anyone who has gotten used to the rich V8 melody of a Ford modular V8 will have trouble getting used to a V6. I have an LS2 V8 under the hood, and even I miss how sweet Ford's v8's sound. Some people don't realize it, but i'm a firm believer that Ford has the best sounding V8's on the market. The new 24 valve MGT v8 is not only gorgeous when opened up, but the new 24 valve triton 5.4 V8 on the F150's sound absolutely heavenly with a Borla exhaust. So rich and throaty, but exotic at the same time. These GM V8's simply can't compete in the audio department!
