1970 Chevelle SS 454 450HP LS6 Convertible

One of the most sought after muscle cars due to it's highest horsepower rating and the very low production number of convertibles made with the LS6.

There are claims of 16 made, 18 made, 20 made and more. No one really knows because Chevrolet never kept any records. There is no "Marti Report" that you can order up like you can for a Mustang or a or a Galen Govier report for a Mopar.

The only published number by Chevrolet is that they built 4,475 LS6 Chevelles. That number includes both the Convertible and the El Camino.

I have gathered a lot of info on the LS6 convertible and will add more as data comes to light. I will also add the VIN number of the car as it was published (if available) and a link to the car. That way, people can research the car if they choose.

I make no claims the car in question is a real LS6 conv. I really try hard to avoid the recreations, clones, tributes etc.

The VIN seems to be off on the BJ listing. Where a letter should be seen, there is an 8. The letter represents the plant the car was built at. B = Baltimore K = Kansas City, etc.

It doesn't look it from the picture the car is Cranberry Red and not orange:
