Honestly when we were growing up, high school at the time, we thought the name "Judge" was pretty stupid, based on a tv skit "Here come the judge", just wasn't cool.
Great looking car, pretty fast, they just should have dropped the Judge thing.

But, I sure wish I would have had one of those stupid things to sell nowadays!

If I remember correctly from the auction broadcast, they said that it was one of 7.

And as you know, the Judge was supposed to take on the Road Runner - cheap muscle car - but it became the opposite - the top of the line of the GTO.

A neighbor down the street from my parents house bought one of these brand new. He let a friend drive it. The friend hit a telephone pole about 4 miles away and split the car into 3 pieces. Motor, front clip, everything else. The kid died.

I can still remember the pictures on the front page of the local newspaper of all of the parts scattered in the street with the body under a sheet in the middle of them. I was 11.

It's unfortunate it brings back memories like that for you .

Probably was a good lesson why speeding is bad and also why parents must be aware of their kids capabilities and why they must try not to let them exceed them.

Our high school showed the news footage in drivers-ed.

It was the 60's, nobody sued anybody or made anyone else to blame for the crash. The kid messed up, big time.

My roomate in college my freshman year in 1970 had a Judge, I believe 1969 vintage, not the ultra rare version discussed here. It was the orange thing that was seen around some at that time. I thought it was great but women had little interest in me regardless of the car I rode around in.

That was one of the strangest "WTF" about The Judge in 1969.

"Hey - what color is that car?"

"Orange."

So why did Pontiac call it "Carousel Red"

The cars of the 70s had the best color names. I remember Plumb Crazy and Top Banana. I had a 70 Buick GS that I swapped the small for a big block. My friend cruised in his 69 charger RT/SE.
