I'm looking for opinions as to the best sources for HD in BC. A friend has just purchased a new TV and he hasn't subscribed to a provider yet so this is sort of an urgent call for ratings on hardware and program information. Shaw is his only cable option.
Thanks in advance for the help - we might be able to save a newbie from some of our fatal errors. |

Howdy BC.
Same trouble in Alberta, Shaw that is.... read in one of these forums or another that Shaw almost seems anti-HD..... the big 5 stations of HDef content. From what I gather so far in reading, it seems like the Sattelite providers are the way to go. I've been investigating ExpressVu's site and the box with the plan doesn't seem to bad at $369 after pay per view credit. They also offer a rental unit at 15 a month which might be the better way to go given the rapid advances in hardware.... Good luck, and may all your happy trails appear in High Def.

He went Starchoice which I gather is owned by Shaw. They are supposed to be launching new HD stations next month when they flash up their new satellite. He bought the 500 receiver (no rental option) but I understand they are coming out with a new HD recorder as well.
It should be interesting as ExpressVu seems to offer the greatest selection but their pricing is hard to figure out. Strikes me that there should be Canadian programming in HD. How about HNIC in HD? That would be sweet. |
