If you're renting the 9242 from Bell then the answer is a definitely no. Legally, Bell still owns the 9242.

If you own the 9242 then technically the answer is yes; however; there are a few issues you have to consider. If the hard drive is a user replaceable part then the answer is yes. If the 9242 is a self contained unit then removing the hard drive will void the warranty. A driveless 9242 may also cease to function.

I say check the manual to be sure; however; my real advice is to buy hard drive at retail instead of getting it from the 9242. Drives are cheap nowadays. The hassle of removing a drive from the 9242 may not be worth the effort.

What a waste of money.

You want to pull out the Hard drive from a $599 HD PVR and use it in a PC, when the same sized drive will cost less than $100......

Better yet, but an external drive like the 1TB, Western Digital MyBook, about $125, then just connect to the PC via USB, no opening of either machine.

The 9242, should sell, providing it is in full working condition, for at least $500, maybe even more, they are highly sought after, now that Bell have dropped this model.
