Default Shaw Cable HD-PVR Troubles

It's been a while since I've posted on this site, so, forgive me if this has been asked and answered.
I have had my Shaw hd-pvr for over a year now, and have some issues with it.
The sound on the HD stations cuts out several times during a program. Some channels seem worse than others, but I'm sure that they all have the audio cutting out. It seems that Sportsnet is the worst. I have googled this problem, and it seems that several people have experienced it. Has anyone had any success in solving this problem?
I am considering going to ExpressView Hd, if Shaw can't rectify this problem- Can anyone comment about ExpressView isssues? Is it more stable that my crappy shaw pvr?
Thanks.
Dale.

I have a Bell HDPVR and I love it. No problems whatsoever. Been with Bell for several years now.

I recommend it!

I've been thinking of getting one of the newer Shaw HDPVR's, and now that I've seen this issue, wonder if the newer unit's are having the same issues?

If it's not one thing...it's another!

We've been with Shaw digital since 9/07 when we moved west. We started out with the crappy digital box for a few days, then upgraded to a regular old PVR box until last week when we got the new Pace HDPVR box. The entire time we have been with Shaw's digital service, no matter which box, the sound has cut out. Tonight I missed 2-3 minutes straight of an old CSI episode.

It's super annoying. We had Rogers digital for years and never experienced anything like it.

Smile hey

I have been with Bell for 3 yrs, 2 yrs with contract 1yr procrastinating on renewing. I didn't buy the reciever cause I wasn't sure about the whole satilite thing etc. So now I have been getting serious about making a decission, do I re-sign and buy a reciever with Bell do I give Shaw, Star Choice a shot. After checking out reviews, talking to friends etc. I think I will stick with Bell. I have had a few b*tches about audio dropping, picture dropping and programming glitches, but the reality is that the signal is coming from space and it ain't going to be perfect all the time. Over all it has been good with Bell. I had to have a tech come in and replace a reciever on the dish, it cost 75$ but I am told I can get a credit if I re-sign, we'll see I guess. I have not heard good things about Shaw, low picture quality, lines get knocked out in storms, PVR machine is doughtful, shows not recording bla bla. Star Choice I have heard is not worth the risk........so I think it's off to the Bell store I go. Hope this helps.

Default sound black outs on shawbox hdpvr

I have a new shawbox hdpvr and the soundouts happen. From what i have found out its not a curable problem for Shaw. I even bought a new receiver thinking i had a problem with the old one. Other issues are signal interference (ghosting effects) noticed on some hd channels at times.
