DSR505 DVI to HDMI connection loses picture

I have connected my Motorola/StarChoice DSR505 receiver to my JVC HD-52FA97 television with a DVI/HDMI cable. For the most part, this works. But, every few minutes, the picture disappears for a second or two (the screen goes black) and then the picture re-appears with "Digital-In1" displayed to indicate the input connection.
When I connect these devices with component video cables, I do not have this problem.
I have contacted JVC and they suggested I "reset the HDMI input" (and gave me clear instruuctions on how to do that), which I did. But it didn't help.
I contacted my Star Choice service rep, but all he did was look at the DVI/HDMI cable, say it looked OK, and leave it disconnected.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing this?

This sounds like the infamous HDCP handshake problem. I would leave the component connections and avoid this issue. The PQ should be the same (although many prefer component over HDMI).
