Default Picture Format: Videotron HD (Pace Box)

Could someone explain the difference between these 4 picture formats for the PACE511HD of Videotron: Fixed, AutoDVI, Upconvert1, Upconvert 2.

I want to set it up in such a way that my tv (sony bravia 40v3000) detects the feed 1080i, 720p etc automatically and displays it in the most optimal aspect ratio (zoom, stretch, etc).

thanks.
