Default How can I get shows from DVR to my Mac?

I am a Cogeco subscriber, and I have a Motorola DCT 6416 III DVR. I want to get the shows I've taped to the hard drive on to my iMac. I don't really want to buy a DVD recorder if I don't have to. It has a SATA hookup on the back as well as a USB hookup on the front. I haven't been able to find any documentation included with the set top box itself. Any ideas?

You can't. You'll need a DVR that lets you do that out of the box, or one that someone has created a program for (there used to be a program to extract tivo shows but it no longer works).

I assume you don't own the cable box so I wouldn't play with it too much, you could break it.

Thanks, probably good advice not to muck with it. I think I may have found a solution by transferring the shows to my iPod through the iRecord.

Disregard that last reply, he is 100% incorrect. I do it all the time with my Mac and here is how you can to. Link

Thanks Sulla! I'll test that this week.
