just bought a new shaw dct6412 pvr..love the machine.pause fast forward,live tv.it,s great.does anyone know if you can get rid of the so called barn door,s [black bars ] on the side of the screen

I don't know if this will help, but you can also customize the settings on the hd-pvr by turning it off and pushing the "Settings" button. A menu should come up which will allow you to change video output to 720p from 1080i (if you wanted to, it made a difference on my set) and 4:3 output ratios as well. Enjoy the new toy! I just bought mine a couple weeks ago myself.
