Default Rant: Who is lying? Besides everyone?

Attached find pic1, showing HD icon upper right. Notice there is nothing HD about the content.

Attached find pic2, showing BEV HD channel particulars blah.

So I guess one can ask, "Was it originally HD, but BEV or other transponder cropped it and fed it on a non HD stream?" My instincts tells me that right from the source, those not in the know, are being duped. They got their $6K plasma and are feeding it with coax. Hooray HD!

Yes, my TV still screams FEED ME!

Default Not yet enough full time HD

You'll find with SN and TSN that they don't show enough HD. Snet is good dutring the summer months (they show a lot of HD Blue Jays games) and TSN is good during the winter months as they show a fair amount of HD NHL games.
Right now the full time channels to watch at HD Discovery,HD HD Treasure and HD Oasis.

Naturally. An HD channel is a channel that is capable of distributing HD signals. Most HD channels are, in effect, simulcasting the programming that appears on their non-HD counterparts (for example, Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD). When an HD signal is available, the HD channel gives it to you. But if no HD signal is available, you get the regular standard-def feed.

In this case, you're watching Sportsnet HD. But the programming is standard definition. And as the previous post indicated, Sportsnet HD provides very little in the way of HD programming. Here's the Sportsnet winter 05/06 HD schedule - which consists only of a bunch of NBA games:

The good news is that the amount of HD programming is going to soar over the next year or so, now that HDTVs are flying off the shelves. If broacasters don't supply HD signals, their audiences will desert them in droves. The big U.S. nets have already responded - everyone else is still trying to catch up.
