Bell should call their customer service "customer disservice"
My experience with up grading to HD was nothing less than horrendous. As an existing customer i was told over the phone that I could get a 6100 reciever for a rental cost of $10/month to add to my two 3100 recievers. Free HD programming for 1 year ($120 value), free dish, free 4x4 multiswitch and free installation. I was charged $284 on my Visa which would all be returned to me as a credit on my account. Fine and dandy.
Well twice I took time off from work and the installer didn't show up. Customer service tells me they have no way to contact their installers??
Installer finally shows up and had everything up and running quickly. He was professional and knew what he was doing. He informs me that he is a full time installer working for Bell but that many installers are part-timers who know very little about what they are doing!
Trying to get my credit was the next feat of endurance which involved many hours on the phone talking to idiots who are obviously reading from a script.
I am very sorry sir that you have been inconvenianced and I will pass on your complaint.
Finally got it resolved after 7 months and finally telling them to come and pick up their equipment as I was switching to Starchoice tomorrow.

Default Very annoyed!!!!

As many have said previously - Bell employees do not know what they are talking about. This, I believe, is due to outsourcing their call centers. Anyways, I have been dealing with the same issues for upgrading to HD. As a customer for 12 years we wanted to upgrade...Bell has lots of incentives for that..NOT! They want to charge an existing customer the full go. We told them that we would consider dealing with another company or cancel and start another account to get the incentives. We went through three different people before we were turned over to the Reward department where they will promise you the world and not follow through. We were promised that if we went out and purchased an HD receiver they would give us 30% off of the HD programming for one year; which by the way they are still agreeing to. Here's the kicker. They also promised to provide a new dish, all cable and connectors for 2 different tvs and have it installed. So we bought the receiver, called them to have the equipment sent out to us and have them arrange an installer. As it turns out there is nothing on our file that says anything about the dish or equipment, although my wife had asked for an email confirmation - which they will not do. On the side, it is interesting how they are pushing customers to visit their website for anything that you want to do....everybody is to utilize technology but they will not use it themselves. So it turns out that we need to find an installer...at $225.00 - they will not bill Bell - we need to submit the bill to Bell - which Bell will only pay $75.00. Also Bell is only sending out a dish and enough equipment for one tv. They deny any knowledge of our conversation. WELL!!!!!! Here it goes folks - the inside scoop! I talked with a new person today and he told me to request that they go back and review the recording from our conversation. Bell records every conversation for customer service purposes. So that is what I am going to do. Do not let these guys push you around. Only when you threaten to move to another company will they get off of their duffs and actually provide some service. I am not through with this company. Good luck!!

Back in 1999, I decided to apply for a job at Bell Expressvu, in North York. After giving them my resume and what my qualifications were, I expected it to be a slam dunk. I get a letter telling me that I was not one of the target groups and regretfully told that my services were not wanted. A year later, I did the same for Starchoice, in Mississauga. They were ready to hire me on the spot, after reading my qualifications. I considered it and was about to take the position, but found that their pay would not cover the costs, living in the area. I found the experience of being interviewed by both companies day and night. I became a Starchoice subscriber and dumped Bell immediatly. I have not looked back since. I fully endorse Starchoice as a more helpful and understand company.

On the picture comparison, I found Starchoice HD channels much better than Bell and the cost was less. Sure Bell has a few more HD channels, but Starchoice gives you a number of free HD channels, even with the basic subscription. Starchoice will be releasing a new HD receiver, this fall, the 605 model, that will allow them to put 7 HD channels per transponder. Bell is hard pressed to put more than 3 per transponder on their current system.

I have been a BEV customer since 2000. I have found the best, most cost effective and lest anoying ways to upgrade to HD was to buy all my equipment from Ebay and install it myself. The installation of the dish is not rocket science, especially if you already have one there and anyone that can hook up a stereo can hook up the Bell unit! Just be sure that your Ebay seller has a good rating.

If you currently have no programming from the 82 degree bird, Bell TV will carry out a FREE installation and Upgrade if you subscribe to HD or other programming from the 82 degree bird.

Not sure how buying equipment from E-Bay can be more "cost effective" than a free Upgrade..
