Default BEV's latest

Bevs latest promo is now just for the NEW customer a free hi def reciever for two years and free hi def prgraming for a year. (its on thier website) Total cost over the two years $120.00, not too bad. Of course you would have some other programming costs as well but lets stick to the hi def. For us poor slobs the existing customer we have to buy the reciever for $299 and then pay for the full two years of programming $240 so lets see that comes to $530. Difference of $410 I called them and they told me tough its only for new customers. I emailed them and three times they gave me no answers as to why exisiting customers couldnt get a deal. I dont like buying expensive recievers as they change as often as I change socks, but when companies are promoting new services they should offer them to exisiting customers. I am going to ditch the dish and go back to Rogers, they offer the same if you bring in your dish recievers. Anyway just thought others should know maybe then they will change thier policies.

It's typical of Bell and their piss poor management. They treat their new customers better than their loyal customers who have been with them for years. You know it is so dumb. You would think Bell just opened its doors yesterday and has no knowledge of how the public think or how to provide decent customer service. The cost to maintain a customer is far less than the cost of reeling a new customer in. If they lose you, the cost is phenominal to replace you. The real problem is that Bell has been a very spoiled company being a monopoly for so long. Now they've got some competition, but the competition needs to become more robust. Their older "loyal" customers will also die, and the younger generation will remember the cruel treatment they received from Bell and will avoid them. In the future, Bell may find itself in a very bad way. Bell - who is making billions of dollars profits. Would it hurt them to cut their loyal customers some slack? I have cell phone service with them and it's the same thing. They don't give me any deals. Just new customers get them. The rest of us get our bills screwed up on an on-going basis. Once my 2-year contract expires I will leave them and go with another cell phone company. The more people who leave them, the more they will get the message loud and clear that they need to provide their customers with proper customer service.

Jodish,
I totally understand your frustration with Bell when it comes to new customers and their special offers. However, have you considered simply renting their HD-PVR 9200 receiver? I've been a customer of theirs for nearly 2 years (my contract is up in April '06) and I found out that they will allow current customers to rent this particular receiver. You sign a contract, of course, agreeing to pay for the installation and the $25/mo. rental fee. It just got hooked up earlier this week and both my roommate & I are loving it! The nice thing about that is that when the more updated PVR comes out (within 2 years I'm sure) you can simply trade it in for the better one. I would hate to see you go back to "digital" cable without possibly thinking about this option. Regardless, Good Luck!

Just to let you know, you cannot just upgrade to a more updated PVR when it comes out. Once you sign that contract, you cannot upgrade until that contract is up. Or, as Bell told me (trying to upgrade from my 5220 to the 9200), I would have to pay them $200 to cancel my contract, redo a new contract for the new receiver, and still pay to have it installed.

The goal to a road of success is to get rid of any Bell service you may have. This includes satellite, home phone, and cell phone services. Almost everyone I know who has services with Bell has some story to tell of how they were raked over the coals. Canada has been extremely loyal to Bell for over 125 years. This company will never get the message. They have their hands into so many pies. Upper management never respond to customer concerns. Their customer service sucks. Their staff are often saucy and ignorant. They have many rules in place that are 1 cm away from being a scam. They've been caught in scams, as recently as a few months ago with the CRTC charge that they are now calling the System Access Fee of $6.95 per month on your cell phone. If they can find a way to gouge you - they will. Do they care about you? Nope. They only care about your money.

So why do you suppose they won't offer their current customers some slack? Do you suppose it is because they are arrogant enough to think that you would never leave and go elsewhere? Do they think that their service is the best, and that alone will keep you as a customer?

If they think these things, then they are living in a state of denial. People are not stupid. We all have quite a bit of intelligence. The tricks that Bell has played over the past century on our parents and grandparents aren't jiving with the newer generations.

Bell, you are a disgraceful company to deal with, and I'm sure a disgraceful place to work. It's time your days of controlling your customer is over.

People, switch providers! You can do it. It is possible. You'll thank yourselves for it later.

Exclamation BEV and the BBB

If you go to almost any Better Business Bureau site in Canada you will discover hundreds of unresolved Bell cases. You will also note that Bell has ceased being a member of the BBB, likely due to the fact that they would be subject to punishment over all their unresolved cases if they were.

It would be interesting to add up all of the unresolved Bell cases in Canada: the number would be in the many thousands. I'd be one of them.

No sense fighting with Bell. They are totally unconcerned with their customers. They've got so much money they don't know what to do with it, and they seem to have the CRTC wrapped around their fingers.

Best thing to do is leave them. I sincerely hope over the next 10 years that most people will leave Bell.
