I am a current Expressvu customer planning to move up to HDTV but have three questions that I hope you can help with.
Currently Bell (and Rogers) use MPEG2 format for transmitting and decoding HDTV signals. 1. On Bell's website they say that HDTV (MPEG2) provides picture quality that is 6 times better than analogue. How much better picture quality does MPEG2 provide than basic digital. 2. Will Bell eventually move to MPEG4, which is where some of the other sateiiite companies are moving (mainly US). 3. I understand that MPEG4 requires more bandwidth than MPEG2 for transmission and that satellite service providers will be able to provide this bandwidth much more readily than cable service providers will. If this is true how much advantage does Bell have over Rogers in this instance and is it better staying with Bell (I was hoping to consolidate all my telephone, television, and Internet services with one supplier but Bell Sympatico does not work well in my area) |

I thought that MPEG4 used more compression, not less. Thats the whole point of using it. Your other questions I can not answer.
