Default No Dolby Digital, HDMI>TV>RECIEVER

Just bought a new TV. A 32 inch Panasonic Im trying to connect it from my PS3 and 360 through HDMI and then optical from the back of the tv to my reciever.

The problem is im not getting any DD, only pro logic. Im coming to the conclusion that it might have something to with HDCP.

Is there anyway to let the DD sound coming from my 360 and PS3 to pass through my TV and into my receiver? Or do I have to either A get a optical switch or B keep on manually changing the wire since my receiver has one optical in.

No, you CAN NOT run your PS3 to your TV and then to your receiver. The optical output on your TV will ONLY pass 2 channel stereo out from anything other than a 5.1 OTA signal from your ATSC tuner. You must run HDMI from your PS3 to your receiver and then HDMI from receiver to TV. All of your components should be hooked up to your receiver in this manner. Optical will ONLY pass core DD or DTS from the other components to your receiver, as well. It will NOT pass True HD or Master Audio. At this time ONLY HDMI will send the full Dolby and DTS signals to your receiver. If your receiver has no HDMI inputs and outputs, you will NOT be getting anything but the core signal, and only stereo from your TV. In other words - time to upgrade !

Thats what I thought Im probably going to upgrade soon but its not right yet on the horizon. As more Blu-rays are only having a DTS master track and no Dolby Digital track my DD receiver is forced to play the audio in Pro Logic.

As it stands right now though gaming is my main focus and with all games utilizing DD at the moment I guess im fine with unplugging the toslink from 360 then plugging it into my PS3. Yea its 10 second more work but I can deal with it for now =P
