Default HDMI Coupler to extend a HDMI cable

Does anyone know if you lose signal strengtg if you use a HDMI Coupler to extend a HDMI cable. I am trying to extend and HDMI from 6ft to 12 ft. I already have a couple of 6 footers I want to use. So I am just thinking to connect a coupler and put them in. I found a coupler but I am curious if they actually lose signal strength.

Thumbs up HDMI coupler

It would probably work OK, but it's $3.42 at monoprice.com.

Or a 12' cable for $5 . . . .

Yes, there will always be some signal loss using a coupler; but in this case (connecting two 6' cables) it would likely be purely academic.
The bigger issue might be the potential of the cables pulling loose if they get jiggled.

Monoprice is the ticket.......great prices on cables...buying the 12' cable is guarantee that there won't be any signal loss....

Thanks for the input. I use to buy from Monoprice but I just have a hard time connecting a poorly constructed Cheapo China cable to a 2000 dollar LCD. Most of those cables put out only 1080i - but most people I guess don't k now the difference. I also really look at the jacket and the construction of the cable. I have had about 3 cables from Monoprice that the gold connectors fell of. They are not made to be pulled, bent, and yanked around. But I guess you get what you pay for.

Actually all of the monoprice products are suitable for 1080p.
If a HDMI cable were not capable of handling a 1080p signal then the result would be a highly pixelated display or more likely no image at all.
It's not a matter of "knowing the difference"; it's a matter of signal or no signal.

Sorry about you bad luck; that's unfortunate.
It is very different from the hundreds of experiences reported on this forum anyway.

Perhaps the solution is to not use a cheapo cable;
and not use a cheapo coupler;
but to get a $150 12' Monster cable just for peace of mind.
