Default DVI/HDMI to Component Video converter?

A DVI and/or HDMI to Component adapter/converter.

Does it exist? I have found some very exspensive little boxes that appear to possibly do the trick, but I'm not sure. I'm asking because I have a Sony Wega XBR, and it uses component inputs compatible up to 1080i, but all the new devices coming out now seem to only have DVI and/or HDMI.

I realize that whatever the device is, it is essentially decoding the digital data and the output will be analog component.

I love gaming, and the specs have been released on the PS3, and it is equipped with 1 A/V out, and 2 HDMI outs. And all the games will be 720 or 1080 by design. Considering I jumped on the HighDef wagon 4 years ago and paid out the nose for a TV that still has a fabulous picture, I'm going to wring what I can out of this thing.

So, in other words, I'm S.O.L.? What a way for the industry to thank us for our support of their technology.

Default same boat as you

Blue tech I'm in the same boat as you but does your TV have a VGA port? Mine does but no HDMI or DMI. I just bought mine 3months ago for a grand!
this shi* should be backwards compatible to some degree.

However, if you have a VGA port that link would work! But it's over 300bucks......

DVI to Component converters don't handle HDCP copy protection, they're only for PCs not HDTVs. You're SOL for the PS3.

Nope, no VGA either.

Guess I'm getting a new set in the near future.

Ok, does anyone have experience with receivers that offer HDMI/DVI switching capabilities?

Will these devices take the HDMI input and pass it through to the component monitor outputs.

Denon AVR-5805 Receiver shows the connections, but does not say if it will pass the HDMI signal on to the component outputs.

I suppose the copy protection law makes this illegal as well, so maybe my pursuit is moot.

Default How About This Idea!!!???

My Samsung DVD-V9500 up-converts via HDMI output. I want to connect it to my Denon surround reciever via component input. Then change from component-out to DVI-in for my DLP projector.

I bought a HDCP compliant "HDMI-to-DVI adapter" and then plan on connecting a "DVI-to-component cable". From my basic thinking... this should work.

Anyone have experince with this???

Ok, well... as illegal as YOU say it is... they are being sold all over online... and even at BestBuy.

I am converting HDMI to DVI... both are digital. Then DVI to component. So the adapter I'm using is not illegal... I guess, according to you, just the way I'm hooking it up is.

What about of... "will this work?"... don't you understand?

-there's no YPbPr analog signal on your DVI - kinda hard to keep up with you --same queries in two threads http://www.highdefforum.com/showthre...=1#post102114- most of those cords say for use with ATI video cards - ATI sells a convertor dongle foa about $20 - but it's only used when RGB is present on the DVI - I have one myself- did you read the fine print on ebay?
