RG5 vs RG6 cable
My Direct TV installer told me he would need to install RG6 cable because with my existing RG5 my new HD receiver would not operate properly but two years ago I had an HD receiver installed with the RG5 and it works fine. Why would I need to change or can I continue using the 22 year old RG5 with HD?

RG-6 handles a higher bandwidth than RG-5. RG-6 is also better for long runs vs RG5. You can use the RG5 but probably won't get the best of signals.
For PFC5 I miss ya, buddy WB L2W!

If he was offering to install the RG6 at "no additional charge" let him do it.
If he was going to charge you for the cable and the install, he was trying to take you for a ride.
RG5 is perfectly capable of handling both the DirecTV bandwidth and any signals that are carried by the cable.
