Default HDMI -- Monoprice 1.3a vs. Monster 800?

Based on the good info I found on this forum, I bought these HDMI cables at monoprice for around $12 each

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

A friend of mine just told me that he went from a "400" to an "800" HDMI cable and is getting much better PQ. I hadn't heard of that type of designation (i.e., 400 or 800) before. Also he paid over $100 for it.

Checking it out online, it appears to be a Monster thing. For example, on Monster's website they have this "800" HDMI cable:
http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=4683

Question is -- is the "400" vs "800" designation for the HDMI cable strictly a Monster thing? And how would I compare that cable, and its capable bandwidth, to what I got at monoprice?

Bottom line I guess -- my PQ looks just fine to me with the monoprice cable, I'm just trying to understand all this better.

And, maybe tell my buddy that he got ripped off...

Thanks

Absolute bull, there can be NO difference, absolutely none. What you got from monoprice will be/is just as good as the highly overpriced 800 Monster cable. It is a digital signal, sending 1's and zeros, you just can't make a one or zero any more than it is no matter what any salesman or company tells you. Only a fool would disagree with Scott and Loves. Here is my four cents.
check this link: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/hdmi-cabl...lly-268788.php
The same test that was in the link that Loves posted was done for a different site. I have calibrated the Tektronix DSA8200 Digital Serial Analyzer used in the tests and it's accuracy is undeniable . When I install HT I use the cable you purchased only because it "looks better" than the 28 gauge and it gives clients a warm and fuzzy about cable appearance . Truth is you could have saved few bucks purchasing http://monoprice.com/products/produc...seq=1&format=2 and you would have never noticed the difference. But you still saved a ton of money over M@#$ter!!

P.S. Hey Scott-you're still a BEAST!!
