Then turn the cable box on. When you turn the system off, turn the cable box off first, and then the TV/reciever. Never leave the STB on, with the TV/reciever off. That would lead to sync. problems. Jatmobile >> Fellow lister Jatmobile gave wrote me the above sequence for turning in the SA 8300 HD using the HDMI cable. It worked perfectly and I can definitely see superior detail on true HD programming. The problem is that the SA 8300 is the only unit using the HDMI input to the HDTV. All other inputs, including DVD players, etc. use the Component input routed through my Audio Video Receiver to the HDTV. I decided for simplicity in my household to change the HDTV back to the Component input so that family members would not have to change another input from the HDTV. However, when the HDMI cable is connected to SA 8300 HD, it must change some setting in the box. If I try to watch the cablebox through the Component input I only get a 4:3 SD picture, whether the station is HD or SD. I'm guessing that the component output of the cablebox is disconnected and that the signal is being send from the cablebox S-video and up converted to component signal but not able to give an HDTV signal. (I'm really not sure about this!) If I disconnect the HDMI jack from the SA 8300 HD. The box will work perfectly outputing from the component jacks to the HDTV. Reconnecting the HDMI and using the HDTV HDMI input, the signal is perfect again showing the even better HDTV signal. Is there a way that I could keep the HDMI cable connected and be able to use the component output of the SA8300 HD, therefore not driving my family to distraction? Or do I have to connect the HDMI cable each time I want to get superior picture and the rest of the time let the rest of the "group" be content with component HDTV quality? |
