Hello all. My first post and, of course, I have a couple of questions.
I have a new Samsung LN-T3253H LCD TV hooked up to a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital STB and an older Denon 5.1 Surround Receiver as follows: STB to TV is CATV 18 AWG cable in STB to Receiver is analog L/R (white/red) cable in I'm hearing what I believe is a slight echo when I listen to the sound thru the TV and the receiver simultaneously, whether the receiver is set to surround or stereo. TV audio is set to Standard/TruSurround XT-Off. Previously, I had the same STB and receiver hooked up the same way to a SD Stereo TV that didn't exhibit this condition. Is this possible, or am I perhaps imagining it because the sound from the LCD TV is simply different/better than what I'm used to from the SD TV? Also, I will soon be switching to a SA 8300 HD DVR and I'm planning on running Component video and red/white audio from STB to TV, and optical audio from STB to receiver for 5.1 surround when available. The receiver has one digital coax input but that will be occupied by my DVD audio out. Is this set up correct, or should I be doing something differently? I've looked around this site quite a bit. Good, useful forum here. Thanks.

It could be a very slight delay between the analog audio connections between the cable STB and the TV/receiver. The analog (red and white) connections are only going to produce simulated or sudo surround also. Not true DD or DTS like when you will have your receiver connected via optical. My guess is this issue will go away when you get your new STB/connections, but can't say for sure.
Yes, either run HDMI (digital video and audio) or component video with analog audio to the TV from the new STB and then just optical audio out from the STB to receiver. |

Thank you for your response, Bigloww.
I figured as much but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here. Hopefully all will be well after the switch to the new STB. Thanks again and cheers.
