Okay, my Samsung 42" Plasma HDTV has 2 HDMI connections available for support of HDMI devices such as HD-DVD players, Playstation 3 etc. etc. I'm aware of a new HDMI 1.3 support that's coming out soon..... However, since my Samsung Plasma HDTV only supports up to 1080i and not 1080p would I need the HDMI 1.3 or wuld a Monstercable HDMI Ultra 1000 do the trick?

Forget the Monster Hype.
1.3 is the way of the future. Eventually all newly produced cables should meet that protocol. In the meantime, there is no reason to take out a 2nd mortgage to buy a cable.

If you can not find Philips 6' at Walmart, go to Sams. They have plenty Philips 6' for around 24 or 25 like Walmart. The reason I say this b/c I never see Philips 6' at two Walmart around my area....only see 12' one.

You do not need the Monster cables or the HDMI 1.3 now...Just get you a cheap, good quality pair of HDMI cables!
Good Luck! |

My picture looks pretty darn great with HDMI Ultra 1000...but that's compared to the basic component cables the cable company gave me and some old Acoustic Research cables I used to have. I can't compare it to HDMI as my TV doesn't have that input.

Swing by monoprice.com and grab some HDMI cables. In my viewing experience, good quality RG6 component cables produce equal quality as HDMI. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Go to MyCableMart.com and get these for just under $9.00 each. I just bought and received them and they are great. Fast shipping via 3-4 day Priority US Mail.
